- Back up first if possible — if you can access even one user account or Safe Mode, copy important files to a USB drive before resetting. Files cannot be recovered once the reset starts without a data recovery service.
- Keep your Asus laptop plugged into power throughout the entire reset. If the battery dies mid-reset it could corrupt Windows and make the laptop unbootable.
- After the reset, you'll need a Microsoft account or local account for the initial Windows setup. Have your email and password ready.
- If you're signed into a Microsoft account, some Asus laptops may require Microsoft account verification after a reset — make sure you know your credentials.
- If you're selling or giving away the laptop, always choose "Fully clean the drive" in Method 2. This ensures your personal data cannot be recovered by the new owner.
- If neither method works — or your Asus laptop freezes during the reset — bring it to a DG Help service center. Our technicians can reset your Asus laptop professionally without data loss in many cases.
